DTouch for Cubendo: Track Colors are back!

Post by Support Team » 17 Jan 2018 15:13

Starting from DTouch for [Cubase|Nuendo] v1.3.20, Track Colors are available again when running DTouch in Standard Mode.

This feature works by getting the file location of the current Cubendo project, and by reading the project file and user preferences directly.
This means that:
  • DTouch cannot fetch the Track Colors from a non-saved Project (for example: a New Project which hasn't been saved yet)
  • DTouch will reflect the Track Colors only after a Project is saved (if you make changes to a Project, you need to save it in order to see the changed Track Colors in DTouch; it's not in real-time like Legacy Mode)
The DTouch Settings gains a new "Mixer Channel Strip Color" group:

"Enable [Cubase|Nuendo] track color capture" is the global enable for this feature
"Color DTouch Floating Mixer" chooses between coloring the entire Channel Strip on the Floating Mixer, or only the Track Name rectangle
The Strip color is drawn using a gradient, which can be altered using the Intensity sliders.

OK, we already have some problems :( :D

This is a beta because of this new feature, so, if you see that the colors are not correct, contact us (support@deviltechnologies.com) and send us (if you can/want) the Cubase/Nuendo project file (.cpr/.npr). Don't send us the media, we don't need it and it is your property! We only need the .cpr/.npr because we could make some errors during its interpretation. The project file is not easy to be read and you can help us sending yours.

It's working well for me! Thanks for this. One of my gripes with the Cubase mixer was always that you couldn't colorize the tracks like almost every other DAW. Is it possible to adjust the opacity of the colors as opposed to the brightness?

If you move the sliders to the left, they substract an amount to the brightness (the center is the neutral point = color unchanged). Is this what you want?

No, instead of subtracting brightness, can the slider subtract color so that all the way left is no color and all the way right is bright color? I've attached some photos of how Cubase can change the opacity of the track colors in the project window (File>preferences>event display>track>colorize track controls).

Thanks!

Edited to correct location of opacity changes in Cubase preferences.

Hello!

v1.3.21 fixes some bugs in the color read function. Now it should be better (I cannot say PERFECT :( ).
At the moment the audio output channels from the instruments in the VST-Instruments rack are still not-color-captured ... we are working on this ;)

Give us a feedback.

One thing that we didn't mention in the first post:

Track Colors are associated to Tracks by their name.
Every Track should have a unique name; if there is a duplicated Track name in the Project, the fetched Track Color for those Tracks won't be reliable.
