V2 Software update

Post by Support Team » 17 Sep 2019 13:52

All current software products from Devil Technologies has been updated to version 2.
The V2 software mainly brings a new Licensing System with it, removing the iLok licensing system.
A new Software License is needed to use the new V2 Software, and we decided to give out a FREE V2 LICENSE for each existing V1 licensed product.

New DT Licensing System

The DT Licensing System is in use by all V2 Software from Devil Technologies.
It is based on Software Licenses, and it doesn't require an iLok anymore, since it is not based in the PACE iLok protection.
The DT Licensing System allows you to use any V2 Software from Devil Technologies in TRIAL mode, just by downloading it and installing it. The software will start in TRIAL mode, without any license or authorization needed. The software will enforce some limitations, which may be functional-based and/or time-based.
In order to use any V2 Software from Devil Technologies, you need to purchase a Software License, which will be deposited in the new "My Account" area of the deviltechnologies.com website.
Initially, the License is in the Not Activated state, and cannot be used; you need to activate it in order to be able to download and use it in the V2 Software.
Activating a License means binding it to a Machine: the software will be usable on that Machine only.
In order to activate a License, you need to start the software on the Machine that you want to use, produce a Machine ID file, and upload it to the deviltechnologies.com website, generating a License Activation Request.
The License Activation Request will be verified by the Devil Technologies Support Team and, once accepted, your License will be activated on that Machine.
The whole Licensing System and the activation process is detailed in the User Guide of any V2 Software from Devil Technologies.

Migrating to the V2 Software

IMPORTANT: If you currently own any V1 Software, and you want to migrate to the V2 version, PLEASE NOTE that the process is NOT quick and NOT automated. So, it is IMPORTANT that you don't perform this update while you are going to perform a session in your studio!!! Please plan some downtime for the V2 update (example: perform the update during a weekend).
If you cannot afford an extended downtime, please follow these steps:
  • Make sure that you already own a License for the wanted V2 Software, by checking in the "My Account" area on the deviltechnologies.com website
  • Create a backup of the V1 Software settings
  • Uninstall the V1 Software
  • Install the V2 Software
  • Generate the Machine ID file with the V2 Software, and send it on the deviltechnologies.com website
  • Uninstall the V2 Software
  • Reinstall the V1 Software
  • Restore the settings from the V1 backup
  • Continue your work
