I will download dfader and test this afternoon the mackie control with an ipad. (Silvano and I talked about a "knob" and I am glad you´ve been able to make it work!)
But you´ve mentioned in the gearslutz thread that you could develop an ipad app.
So let me say that old ipads could be a good alternative for having the macro folders available all times. ArtsUnmuted has made a good app with a grid of customizable buttons.
I believe that this kinds of apps cannot be used with dtouch, so, if you could make a "macro folders" available in several ipads, a lot of cheap screen real state could become available.(not to mention working wirless for recording away from the DAW)
